Duties and Responsibilities:
The position is responsible for the oil production operations of the company including well workovers, tracking and optimizing pump speeds, and providing guidance occasionally to the reservoir engineering, development, and facilities teams. The role also includes production of periodic reports, coordination with our regulatory and measurement assurance consultants, maintenance of an adequate system of records, updating well files with new workover data, summarizing, considering, and evaluating old workover and completions data, quantifying expectations and risks of existing and potential production/completion plans, and ensuring a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. In most cases, it will be assumed that while rigs are in the field doing workovers, the position will be at the field site for real-time active coordination, understanding of challenges as they happen, and confirmation of workover related field tickets (hours and equipment of vendors. Time in the field might be up to 10% of work time.
Specific duties include:
- Maintain a documented system of policies and procedures
- Oversee production operations and optimizations including the design of an organizational framework adequate for achieving goals and objectives
- Budgeting and lookback
- Proactively evaluate opportunities to optimize production
- Comply with provincial and federal government reporting requirements
- Responsibly and quickly coordinate required services for pump changes and other production-critical operations
- Qualifications and Skills:
- 8+ years directly related to heavy oil production
- Flexible mind to comprehend additional challenges related to air/oxygen injection and downhole high-temperature reactions, steam injection, and conventional cold flow heavy
- Experience in business planning, budgeting, decision support, analysis
- Proven leadership communication, and reporting skills are preferable
- Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentially
- Dynamic prioritization and multi-tasking skills
- Process-driven and results-oriented
- Previous experience with EOR projects, SAGD, CSS, in-situ combustion is an asset
- Experience working in field locations on pilot projects is an asset
